The following yarns are one-of-a-kinds. They were hand spun by me and Jim and hand dyed as specified.   They are sometimes dyed and spun to order.  If you are interested in any of the shown yarns that do not have an add to cart button, please write.

Chrysocolla

Chrysocolla (meaning "golden lime" in Greek) is found in regions of Arizona, Utah, New Mexico and Pennsylvania in USA, Isreal, Zaire and England. It is a hydrous silicate of copper, of a blue or greenish blue or blue-green color, sometimes substituting for turquioise.

Turquoise derives its name from turc (Turkish in French) as it was transported to Europe through Turkey. It is one of the oldest known gem materials. Turquoise adorned the ceremonial dress of early native Americans. It is believed that the gemstone guards against diseases and assists in tissue regeneration, subtle body alignment and strengthening. It also brings good fortune and attracts healing spirits. Rich deposits of turquoise are found in the regions of Iran, southwestern United States, Africa, Australia, Tibet, China, Siberia and Europe.

Indian Corn
  • Hand spun and dyed
  • 67% kid mohair with 33% merino
  • Each skein is  ~3 ounce / 85g
  • ~100 yards /~90 m each
  • About 13 wpi or light worsted
  • Use needles size 6-7 (4-4.5mm).
  • Gauge is about 3.75 - 4.25 st/in.

These skeins were spun and then hand dyed in an Indian Corn colorway of yellow, gold, rust, brick, wine, purple and blue.

Cinnamon Toast
  • Hand spun in natural colors
  • 50% alpaca, 20% merino and 30% tussah
  • ~3.7 ounces /~105 g
  • ~205 yards /~187m
  • About 16 wpi or DK to sport weight
  • Use needles size 5-6 (3.75-4mm).
  • Gauge is about 7-8 st/in.

Cinnamon alpaca was plied with undyed alpaca/merino/silk to make a wonderful tweedy yarn.

This soft beautiful skein is enough for a hat  and wrist warmers or a pair of mittens or a scarf.

Sea Glass
  • Hand spun
  • 50% dark spruce green merino
  • 25% cotswold blended with 25% domestic mohair and then dyed purple
  • Each skein is  ~2.2 ounces/ 62g
  • ~110 yards /~100m each
  • About 12 wpi or light worsted
  • Use needles size 6-8 (4-5mm).
  • Gauge is about 5-7 st/in.

These skeins area bit darker than the picture. They will knit into a nice tweed effect.

These skeins were spun and then hand dyed in a Tamarack & Spruce colorway of yellow/green, gold, rusts, spruce and hunter greens.

One skein is enough for a small hat or a wrist warmer.  3 will do a hat, mittens and a scarf.
